The HR Generalist, a dual-focus role, is responsible for day-to-day administration of core HR processes and driving talent acquisition initiatives, including university relations and recruiting. The HR Generalist works closely with the HR Director, divisional HR, hiring managers and company leadership to successfully execute company-wide people initiatives to support the realization of the company’s strategic goals. Duties include but are not limited to:


Human Resources

  • Provide company-wide HR support for recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, employee leave, training and development, performance management, policy interpretation, employee engagement and retention.
  • Perform general administrative support for the employment lifecycle including entering, maintaining and updating employee records and data; creating and maintaining personnel files; and maintaining I-9 records.
  • Responsible for administration of benefits (including enrollments, terminations, and changes) for all benefits programs and annual open enrollment process.
  • Coordinate HR programs including New Employee Orientation, Employee Onboarding and Internship Program
  • Administer the Service Award Program, Employee Appreciation Luncheons, Employee Ownership Month and other employee activities to achieve employee recognition and engagement.
  • Provides highest level of customer service and HR support to our employees, hiring managers and company leadership.


Talent Acquisition

  • Deliver full life-cycle recruiting including source, screen, evaluate, refer and prepare qualified candidates for interviews with hiring managers; specifically supporting the St. Louis and Kansas City office.  
  • Collaborate closely with HR Director, divisional HR and hiring managers to understand personnel needs within the organization to develop and execute a recruiting plan aligned with employer brand; Assist with updating job descriptions and job postings.
  • Establish strong relationships with candidates, hiring managers and outside recruiting agencies.
  • Proactively source and recruit passive applicant pools to fill the talent pipeline by using multi-channel lead generation including cold calling, networking, internet mining, social media, colleges, industry associations, employee referrals, boomerang employees, etc.
  • Generate and extend offers in consultation with the HR Director and hiring managers, negotiate offers and arrange start dates with candidates.
  • Stay abreast of competitor practices, industry trends, and recruitment standards; Develop reports and analyze trends in recruitment metrics.
  • Execute the campus recruiting strategy at key colleges and universities while developing lasting relationships with candidates, faculty, career services and student organizations; Attend campus events; Plan and coordinate Brinkmann Interview Day.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant human resource experience including a minimum of 2 years’ experience with full life-cycle recruitment; preferably in the AEC industry.
  • Prior experience with campus recruitment a plus.
  • Prior experience working with applicant tracking systems (ATS); iCIMS preferred.
  • Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as popular social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook).
  • Must be available and willing to travel based on business needs and to attend campus events.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
