The Director of Information Technology is responsible for leadership, management, strategy and execution of information technology for the organization including computing and telecommunication facilities, equipment and services that support the business. This includes all aspects of information technology management and control, including supervision of Information Technology department employees and outside IT service providers; budget preparation and management; recommendations for technical acquisitions; and development of guidelines, standards and procedures.


The Director of Information Technology reports directly to the President and provides IT strategic planning, tactical action and operational decision-making with regards to information technology to support the organization. Duties include but are not limited to:


  • Oversee the streamlined operation of deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, support and administration of all IT systems including infrastructure/network, storage, security, application, mobile solutions, communications solutions and peripherals to achieve optimal performance across all offices and field/remote offices
  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the organization’s information, data and IT services
  • Implement controls necessary to preserve and protect corporate assets from misappropriation, loss and misuse
  • Recommend, implement and enforce policies and procedures governing the use of IT resources
  • Accountable for budgeting, planning and forecasting
  • Manage the operations of the IT procurement and inventory management function including information regarding licenses, warranties and service agreements for the organization’s hardware and software
  • Screen and provide recommendations for vendor section; negotiate favorable vendor contracts and service agreements; coordinate activities; and monitor vendor performance and drive productivity
  • Provide courteous, timely and effective resolution for end-user issues in all offices and field/remote offices
  • Create, implement and deliver end-user training where required; specifically training new hires on systems and software
  • Conduct IT needs assessment audits; partner with executive management to outline an IT vision; align IT resources with the organization’s business strategy
  • Manage and collaborate with vendors and organization leaders to deliver new technology solutions on time and on budget
  • Participate in system and security audits, system backup procedures and other recovery processes in accordance with Brinkmann’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the company’s SharePoint environment; provide best practice recommendations; drive user adoption throughout the organization; configure the environment to add business value; provide user education and support
  • Drive technology innovation throughout the organization by tracking new solutions in the industry that will give the organization a competitive advantage; Research potential solutions in support of new initiatives and opportunities; Keep executive management informed of new technologies and their competitive and financial impact
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems or related field
  • 5+ years’ technical and management experience directly overseeing IT for a medium-sized business; Industry experience a plus; Experience being the sole IT person at an organization is ideal
  • Experience with project management of implementation and support of integrated business solutions and development endeavors
  • Must have broad knowledge of technologies, trends and directions
  • Experience with an ERP system including job costing; Vista by Viewpoint experience a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, SharePoint and Office 365
  • Ability to be on-call to troubleshoot and resolve any IT emergencies whether on-site or remotely
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required to regional offices located in Kansas City, MO and Denver, CO
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
